Blog Post 25: Paper 3 Reflection

I was exposed to research papers starting in my junior year in high school. The English department at my school took research very seriously. I knew how to use data bases and other components to find sources. I built upon these skills by refreshing my mind and using data bases again to find information. I think I still need to work on analyzing the source further and going into to more dept. I think that would help me relay the information to the reader and they would be able to connect with the work on a deeper level. I found it relatively easy to find my sources, but it was frustrating to read a cite and get nothing out of it. I was surprised about the details and effort put into the study of improving parking. I never would have thought to break it down the ways they do and get into the science of it. As I wrote this paper, I realized that the parking situation is not as easy to tackle as it may seem. I also learned how other cities try to get around this problem and how Ole Miss and the City of Oxford can use that information to help make the parking problem better. I think my strengths were how I presented the problem and used good evidence from my sources to back it up. I think my weakness was my organization. I could not decide where I wanted some paragraphs, so I still need to improve on that. If I had one more day, I would have used it to find out how to put my paragraphs in the right order. All in all, I had a positive experience with this paper, and I enjoyed learning about this problem with travel, especially something that applies to me every day.
