Blog Post 15: Paper 2 Analysis Reflection

I liked writing paper two. I enjoyed breaking down a website that I have interest in. This assignment also will help me be more aware of the three appeals we used and now I can start applying them to ads I see every day. I struggled a little bit at the start to really figure out what the paper was asking of me, but I felt as if I had a good sense of what the appeals meant. If I had more time for this assignment, I would look for more ways I could organize my paper to make it flow the best it could. I would also give a deeper dive into some of the flaws of the website to show a contrast to what the website did well. I have written a rhetorical essay before. I believe it was on a website with more writing and information, so I used quotes to give the website credibility. I think the processes were a little different and I learned from this assignment that the ad does not have to have a lot of words for it to give of any of the appeals we went over in class. In this essay I committed a lot of my time and effort. I sent around 3 to 4 hours constructing my essay and went thought to revise it twice. In class, the explanation of the appeals and analyzing ads in helped me get a good grasp of the appeals and how different ads used them. I do feel that I can analyze better because of the practice and repetition we put into in during our class time. Other out-of-class assignments that helped me was high school classes when we thoroughly analyzed websites and work to find good supporting, accurate evidence. I discovered I like Croatia even more from diving into the website I analyzed.
